Ruth Baranowski is a communications consultant who is passionate about wind energy and its role in helping to mitigate climate change. She began working in the renewable energy industry in 2002, providing communications support for wind and solar research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). As part of deployment activities, she managed stakeholder outreach for workforce development efforts and the national Wind for Schools project and communicated the benefits of wind energy to diverse entities such as state NGOs, state energy offices, public power organizations, Native Americans, county commissioners, and various rural and agricultural groups.

Ruth left NREL in 2008 to launch High Desert Technical Communications. She now provides communications contract services for her clients, including NREL's work on IEA Task 41. She writes, edits, and manages projects such as technical reports, conference papers, brochures, fact sheets, podcasts, e-newsletters, case studies, exhibits, conferences, industry interviews, market reports, website content, and social media outreach.
