IEA Wind TCP 2016 Annual Report
Highlights from the IEA Wind TCP global network advancing wind energy development
In 2016, 54 GW of new wind power capacity were installed worldwide and wind-generated electricity met 4% of the world’s electricity demand. Wind power system performance and reliability continued to improve throughout the year, and costs proved even more competitive with record low tenders during the year. Approximately 84% of the total worldwide wind power capacity (413 GW), and all of the world’s offshore wind capacity, currently resides in the countries participating in the International Energy Agency Wind Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA Wind TCP).
